Our board-certified hand surgeon provides expert surgical care for complex hand conditions, injuries, and deformities. We specialize in reconstructive surgery, trauma care, and advanced techniques to restore hand function and improve quality of life.
We offer comprehensive orthopedic surgical services for upper extremity conditions, including wrist, elbow, and shoulder issues. Our orthopedic surgeon uses the latest techniques and technologies to provide optimal outcomes for our patients.
Our experienced occupational therapist provides specialized rehabilitation services to help patients regain independence in daily activities. We offer comprehensive evaluation and treatment focused on improving function, strength, and quality of life.
Specialized hand therapy services include custom splint fabrication, range of motion restoration, strengthening, edema and scar management, pain reduction, and functional retraining. Our hand therapist works closely with our providers to provide coordinated, personalized care.

Dr. John Kadzielski, MD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Hand & Upper Extremity Surgeon
Dr. Kadzielski is a board-certified orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon who specializes in finger, hand, wrist, elbow, and upper-extremity surgery. He is dedicated to helping patients regain comfort, strength, and function so they can return to the activities they enjoy.
After graduating cum laude from Harvard College and being awarded the Harvard College Scholarship, Dr. Kadzielski completed medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honors Society. After medical school, he attended surgical internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and completed the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. During his orthopaedic training, Dr. Kadzielski's contributions were acknowledged by his students, peers and mentors alike, being awarded the Harvard Medical School Teacher/Mentor Award, the Massachusetts General Hospital Patient Safety Star, The James H. Herndon, M.D., M.B.A., Resident Teaching and Mentoring Award and by being selected as Chief Resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital. After residency, he completed the Massachusetts General Hospital Hand Surgery Fellowship.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kadzielski is an accomplished medical researcher, having investigated many novel concepts involving patient safety, safety culture, patient outcomes, helicopter emergency medical services surgeon fatigue, patient satisfaction, reoperation and readmission rates, psychological factors, surgeon's attitudes and error reporting. He completed the Massachusetts General Hospital Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery Research Fellowship, and has worked as a research assistant, co-investigator and principal investigator on research protocols. His investigatory work has been recognized receiving multiple local, regional and national awards including the Orthopaedic Trauma Association Annual Meeting Highlight Paper Award, the Massachusetts General Hospital Clinical Research Day Individual Award, the New England Orthopaedic Society Kilfoyle Award, the New England Hand Society H. Kirk Watson, M.D., Founder's Award, the New England Surgical Society Surgical Resident and Fellow Research Presentation Day Clinical Runner-up, the Student National Medical Association Region VII Research Competition 2nd Place in Clinical Science, and the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program Resident Thesis Day Non-Clinical Research Paper Award.
He has authored a textbook chapter and more than 20 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Kadzielski's research has been supported by the Partners Center for Excellence Quality and Safety Research Grant, the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Academic Enrichment Fund Grant Award, the Partners Center of Expertise/Partners Graduate Medical Education funding and the Partners Center of Expertise in Quality and Patient Safety Scholarship. In addition, Dr. Kadzielski has served in editorial roles, including Associate Editor and Editor-In-Chief of the Orthopaedic Journal at Harvard Medical School, for which he received the Editor's Award.
While in practice, he has not only focused on patient care but also dedicated his efforts towards surgical education. Dr. Kadzielski has taught medical students from Tufts University School of Medicine, regularly mentored students in the community with an interest in medicine, lectured, lead continuing medical education approved journal clubs as well as hosted a regional educational event for healthcare professionals. Additionally, Dr. Kadzielski's contributions have also been recognized beyond the medical community by being awarded the Meritorious Support and Service Award, Chief Mark W. Dubois, Braintree Police Department.
His committee work has centered on education, safety, quality, peer review, orthopaedic service line management and ambulatory surgical center operations.
Professionally, he focuses on trauma care, surgical education, patient-safety initiatives, workplace culture, the establishment and maintenance of the innate joy and meaning of medical work and highlighting the importance and sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship. As the Director of Hand Surgery at a regional trauma center, he led comprehensive system-wide efforts to improve care quality, safety, efficiency and value, and focused on transitioning the traditional inpatient care models to outpatient pathways--expanding outpatient services, reducing both direct and indirect medical expenses and improving access.
Dr. Kadzielski holds certifications from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, including additional subspecialty certification in Surgery of the Hand, and is an active member of several major medical and surgical organizations.
Outside his medical practice, Dr. Kadzielski is a Lifetime Member of the Harvard Varsity Club and is an active participant in the Harvard Football Mentorship Program. Dr. Kadzielski enjoys spending time with family, gardening and aerial photography.
Kimberly Belina, MPAS, PA-C
Board-Certified Physician Assistant
Kimberly Belina, MPAS, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in orthopedics with a focus on hand and upper extremity surgery. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston.
With over ten years of experience in orthopedic practice, Kim is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. She works closely with patients to help them understand their conditions and treatment options, emphasizing education and collaboration throughout the recovery process.
Outside of her clinical practice, Kim enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Meryl Summers, MS, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Meryl Summers, MS, OTR/L, is an experienced occupational therapist specializing in upper extremity rehabilitation and custom splint fabrication. She has provided comprehensive care across orthopedic, outpatient, home health, and inpatient settings throughout the South Shore and Greater Boston area.
In her previous positions, Meryl expertly fabricated custom splints for a wide range of hand and upper extremity conditions, as well as detailed evaluation and treatment focused on range of motion, strengthening, edema and scar management, pain reduction, ADL/IADL retraining, splinting, and physical agent modalities. In her extensive home-health work with Bayada Home Healthcare and the Norwell Visiting Nurse and Hospice, she delivered therapeutic and palliative services emphasizing home safety, fall prevention, functional mobility, transfers, energy conservation, home modification, adaptive equipment, pain management, individualized home exercise programs, and caregiver education. Meryl also has experience in both orthopedic and psychiatric inpatient care through her work at Cambridge Health Alliance.
She maintains active certifications including NBCOT certification, Massachusetts licensure, AHA BLS Provider, and memberships with AOTA and ASHT.
Meryl earned her MS in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University, following earlier degrees from Yale University and Northwestern University, where she also developed a distinguished parallel career as a professional bassoonist, performing with renowned ensembles such as the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Meryl has also recently created the Adelia the Wonder Girl Foundation in memory of her daughter who lost a courageous battle with aggressive brain cancer. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her other two children, Esme and Charlie, and is currently training for the Boston Marathon to raise critical funds for research at the Brain Tumor Center.
